How are roads selected for reconstruction?
Roads are inspected every odd year and rated from 1 (worst) to 10 (best). These ratings are then evaluated with the number of roadway users and a 5-year list is developed. A geotechnical engineer then bores the existing roadway and determines the scope of reconstruction needed. The Village then estimates costs, establishes an annual budget (typically $1.2-1.5 million), and selects roads within the budget.
