We are hosting a 'Carry Concealed Weapons Training'. More information and the registration form can be found under the FAQs and Information links of this website. Simply print, complete and return the form. This is a classroom training only. No weapons are to be brought to the police department.

Welcome to the Germantown Police Department’s website! I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit our site and review the information provided.

The Germantown Police Department provides police service and office hours 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We have 42 employees, of which 31 are sworn officers. We have a variety of programs to serve the public that we are particularly proud to offer. With total community funding and support, we have a K-9 unit. Our current K-9 handler is Lt. Dave Huesemann. K-9 Rambo joined our department in 2010. The dedicated men and women of GPD have also developed and instructed numerous programs for our community, such as the Citizen Police Academy, Identity Theft and Internet Safety seminars and a bicycle course. GPD also has a Police Chaplain Program. Our lead chaplain, Greg Young, has become a valuable asset, not only to this department but to this community as well. Chaplain Young is assisted by Chaplain Dave Berghuis and Chaplain Jim Sukup. We have a DARE Program that is taught by Detective Penny Schmitt and our Crime Prevention Officer Ray Borden, who is also responsible for a number of the above listed programs.

As you can see, by just listing some of the many programs our department is involved in, “Community Policing” is not just the newest fad or buzzword for this department. We believe in the philosophy of “getting back to basics,” working and networking with the community we police. We believe in being involved with other local programs and have representatives to the Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Germantown, Youth Futures, Kiwanis, American Red Cross, Friends for Abused Families, Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, Big Brothers & Big Sisters and many other programs that benefit and operate in this community.

If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to e-mail me. Whether they are words of praise, comments of concern, or just a general question, we would like to hear from you.
